The Martian Chronicles Review

Overall, I can say that Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles was a pretty okay book.  Even though science fiction isn't really my thing, I still enjoyed the novel.  However, it did get a bit confusing near the middle-end.  There would be bits of the book that I understood completely, but as for other parts, not so much.  I'd say that the book's strongest and most interesting section is the very beginning, as well as the end.  Those parts were very well written, and interesting to read into and think about.  The middle of the book didn't always make sense to me though, and I'd have a sort of on-and-off understanding of what was happening when I was reading the novel.

The main thing that confused me about the book was the excessive use of guns.  Whenever a character came across any sort of obstacle they'd always just whip out a gun and shoot a couple people.  Bang bang, problem solved.  I don't really see that as an effective way of solving a problem, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Overall though, the book wasn't necessarily bad.  It wasn't exactly good either, and it most certainly wasn't anything that stood out to me as an amazing work of art.  Certainly, others may not share my opinion, and I respect that.
