Okay, I'll be completely honest here. Dandelion Wine is not the type of book that I would normally read in my free time. However, it's a published book, and I guess it's not that bad.
I guess.
There are a couple of stories within the novel that I sort of like, and I'll be talking about those today. The first one is the one in which the Lonely One is spoken of. I found it all to be interesting, but then again, I like a lot of things that have to do with suspense and murder. It was one of those chapters that kind of kept you on the edge of your seat, which shows that the writing was effective.
That, and I also liked the story about Mrs. Bentley. I found the discussion about age and youth to be interesting, and it really makes you think, as a reader.
..........
I think that Bradbury's writing is effective because of the dialogue and setting. The setting is typically described in great detail, and a lot of times, the dialogue can help answer any questions that the reader might have. The imagery he uses also sets the tone of the story, which can also create suspense at times.
..........
You guys may not be familiar with the stories mentioned above, so I'll summarize them a bit here for you.
-The Story of the Lonely One.
In this story, three young women are on their way to see a movie at the movie theater, but two of them come across a dead body near a ravine. They're extremely frightened by this, especially because there's an infamous serial killer that's said to be nearby. The main heroine of the story, Lavinia, is on her way home late at night later on and feels that she's being followed by someone, which terrifies her.
-The Story of Mrs. Bently
In this particular story, an old woman finds herself engaging in conversation with a group of young children, who believe that she was never young. This poses the question of the true meaning of youth.
..........
Aaaaaand, that's it-- I hope you guys enjoyed my review (sort of) this far in Dandelion Wine !! Have a good day guys -- !
